Let’s work together!

Persuasive policy communications

We believe advocacy achieves the greatest impact with a clearly-defined north star. Instead of scaling back long-term goals to chase a limited idea of “realism,” our work seeks to partner with advocates to change the narrative and expand popular imagination through easily-repeatable, resonant messaging that shapes public discourse and effectively moves policymakers.

Services:

  • Develop templates, toolkits, talking points, call scripts, and op-eds for Congressional budget negotiations and state legislative sessions, drawing on extensive swing district experience.

  • Develop context-tailored positive, visionary framing to fight against deregulation efforts and stand up for essential government services.

  • Translate technical reports and research into emotionally resonant, persuasive talking points.

  • Consult and assess advocacy materials to strengthen positive vision, simplicity of message, and connection. Conduct messaging workshops with coalition leaders and grassroots members.

  • Communicate holistic approaches to child care policy by clearly articulating the role of incremental progress as part of a larger, motivating vision of system-building and capacity.

  • Create one-pagers, social media, newsletters, templates, toolkits, op-eds, presentations, grassroots actions, and more.

Story stewardship & narrative data strategies

Through thoughtful questions, reflective listening, and the fostering of trusting relationships, we develop surveys, facilitate policy discussions, and conduct key informant interviews to ensure experience leads policymaking. We believe that by highlighting the priorities and needs of child care educators, we can better address system-building in a serious, holistic way. We are eager to build on a strong bipartisan track record, including work that garnered four Republican votes for the Child Care is Essential Act from New York.

Services:

  • Develop surveys that combine engaging storytelling prompts with urgent quantitative data collection, achieving high completion rates.

  • Conduct analysis that draws attention to the differing needs of diverse programs and families across our mixed delivery system.

  • Surface and support highly-impactful storytellers in key districts.

  • Disseminate stories and data simultaneously through the creation of reports, testimony, blog posts, op-eds, one-pagers, story banks, mapping, social media, and video.

  • Extend the lifespan of survey data by releasing multiple presentation formats over time.

Connection-oriented grassroots education

With experience in both early childhood education and policy, we serve as a bridge between educators and policy wonks by facilitating policy education sessions that address tough questions and brass tacks. We believe in taking an approach that is both realistic about challenges and motivating around a united, collective vision for a better world.

Services:

  • Develop and present easily-digestible learning sessions and conduct Q&As about legislation, regulations, and governmental processes, explaining how each impacts child care program operation.

  • Break down policy proposals into plain language to build buy-in and enthusiasm.

  • Convey the interplaying and independent roles served by local, state, and federal government on child care policy and regulation, with an emphasis on developing an understanding of the importance of targeting advocacy efforts towards the level of government directly responsible for the issue at hand.

  • Explain the role incremental legislation can play in the context of a greater vision for systems change.

  • Develop FAQ documents, explainer videos, flyers, zines, and more.

Values-first current event response

We believe it is vitally important to meet the current moment with compassion and empathy, reflecting on harm and uncertainty through the lens of shared values and hope for the future. We have composed responses to a range of current events through the first Trump administration and the COVID-19 pandemic. We take the responsibility of balancing space for grief and righteous anger towards injustice with channeling feelings into action very seriously.
