Our child care stories…
Build the case for a joyful, thriving child care and early education system.
Ensure the voices of child care educators are at the forefront of policymaking.
Place trust, experience, and compassion at the core of the work.
From dreams to reality
Child Care Stories works to build popular and governmental support for a thriving child care system rooted in compassion.
We seek to expand the collective imagination of what is considered “possible” and “practical” in child care policy in the United States.
We envision a system where every family has the care they need, every child has a strong start, and every educator is valued for their important work.
What we do
-
We believe advocacy achieves the greatest impact with a clearly-defined north star.
Instead of scaling back long-term goals to chase a limited idea of “realism,” our work seeks to partner with advocates to change the narrative and expand popular imagination through easily-repeatable, resonant messaging that shapes public discourse and effectively moves policymakers.
-
Through thoughtful questions, reflective listening, and the fostering of trusting relationships, we develop surveys, facilitate policy discussions, and conduct key informant interviews to ensure experience leads policymaking.
We believe that by highlighting the priorities and needs of child care educators, we can better address system-building in an equitable, holistic way.
-
With experience in both early childhood education and policy, we serve as a bridge between educators and policy wonks by facilitating policy education sessions that address tough questions and brass tacks. We believe in taking an approach that is both realistic about challenges and motivating around a united, collective vision for a better world.
-
We believe it is vitally important to meet the current moment with compassion and empathy, reflecting on harm and uncertainty through the lens of shared values and hope for the future.
We have composed responses to a range of current events through the first Trump administration and the COVID-19 pandemic. We take the responsibility of balancing space for grief and righteous anger towards injustice with channeling feelings into action very seriously.
